	SPECIAL PERFORMANCE BY PLAYBACK THEATRE Inspiring Stories of Dealing with Cancer MAY 1, 2005 Sebastopol, CA
Playback Theatre is an improvisational theater troupe that draws on the audience's real-life stories. It is known for performing even the most emotionally-charged material with honor, compassion and a lovely sense of humor. This special performance was about the universality of healing journeys -- and ways that people reach for comfort and healing when they or someone they love has cancer. Audience members were invited to tell their stories. Playback performers listened with care, then acted out each story with compassion and understanding. DANCING WITH THE PHOENIX, Show of Cancer Survivors' Art, was most recently exhibited January 6 - February 6, 2005 at Sebastopol Center for the Arts, Sebastopol, CA. Click here for full info.

Joan Vilms is an unflappable breast cancer survivor whose creativity is always up to something good. We know her because she regularly attends a Healing through Painting group and is a Dancing with the Phoenix artist. Recently Joan had a show of her art -- paintings, stone sculpture, and woven necklaces -- and she donated $100 of the sale of every painting to Arts for Healing! Even though her show is down, she will continue to donate $100 of every painting sale to Arts for Healing.
